The Congregational
Care Committee serves
to supplement the spiritual and physical well being of our church
members. The Pastoral Care Team is made up of members who make
themselves available for home visits, hospital/nursing home visits,
phone call or card ministry participation. This team works alongside
our pastor in meeting the needs of our members. The Shepherd Program
puts members in touch with other members who might be in need of support
or assistance. Care from the Shepherd Program might include welcoming
new members, visiting after the birth of a new baby, providing meals
during times of illness or distress, or simply offering a helping hand
during a time of need. The Souper Supper Servers have frozen meals on
hand for families who are experiencing those unexpected moments that
occur in life. Our medical loan closet makes medical equipment
available to members for ongoing use or during periods of recuperation.
Our transportation program links members in need of rides with other
members who offer their time driving people to appointments.
As a
whole, the Congregational Care committee works to meet the unique needs
experienced by our members, recognizing that we are spiritual, physical
and social beings.

The Shepherd Program
"They
will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger
or naked and sick or in prison, and minister to you?.' Then he will
answer them, 'Truly, truly I say to you, as you did it to the least of
these, you did it to me.'"
To help
foster a caring community at New Hackensack, our church has a Shepherd
Program. Our church families are grouped into 15 different Shepherd
areas each with Shepherd leaders. People in the Shepherd area are
called upon to help meet a families needs when there is a serious
illness , a death, a new birth, etc. They might help with cards, calls,
meals, a funeral reception, etc. As members of God's family we are able
to carry out Jesus' teaching to care for each other in very practical
ways.
