Piggy Bank Bazaar

A Craft Fair for Children

Hello Everyone,
The 48th Annual Piggy Bank Bazaar is almost here!!!
Children’s holiday shopping begins on Saturday December 7th from 9am to Noon here at the New Hackensack Reformed Church. No gift over $3.00 and gift wrapping is FREE.

6,200 crafty, homemade items are available and arranged by tables in 6 rooms as gifts for children, women, men, pets, personalized, flower arrangements, plants, and the Christmas decorations room. Photographers will be on hand to take a small photo of your child and put them in ornamental frames just in time for Christmas.

Our guides (most of whom are Girl Scouts) will be on hand to escort the younger children and help them with their shopping, at the cashier, and wrapping needs. Older children may shop on their own. Parents can help too, or they can wait in the Fellowship Hall where refreshments are available. The Youth Group will be sponsoring a bake sale. Adult shopping is open from Noon to 12:30 pm.

Note: if the Bazaar has to be cancelled, due to winter weather on December 7th, the snow date will be Sunday December 8th from Noon to 3pm. Information about the cancellation will be posted on the church’s answering machine.

We have 2500 Advertising Cards, to be widely distributed in our community to tell your family and friends about the bazaar. This Bazaar is a unique experience for children, so tell everyone! Cards are available at the Gathering Area Table.

A BIG PIGGY BANK THANK YOU Goes out to All the Wonderful People who contributed, donated, and created for us. THE BAZAAR IS ONE GROUP EFFORT! Here is your chance to be a part of the magic and help out at the bazaar. MANY VOLUNTEERS,(like a 100) are needed. SIGN UP SHEETS are in the Gathering Area, or to be a volunteer, contact Franca Petrillo at 845-453-5261. Helpers are needed at the gift tables (men’s, women’s, children’s, Christmas, flower arrangements, and at gift wrapping. The helpers are responsible for table set up, helping children in gift selection at that table, and then breaking down of tables, and clean up. Volunteers are needed for Friday December 6th and/or Saturday December 7th. We also need volunteers on Friday December 6th at 9am to help set up tables and chairs in the Fellowship Hall, Wrapping Room, and the hallways. Then on Saturday December 7th at 12:30pm we need a group to help with the cleanup. Please sign up in the Gathering Area or call Franca. THANKS to everyone who plans to volunteer!

COOKIES, COOKIES, and more COOKIES!! Hello Volunteer Bakers, there will be holiday treats of cookies and assorted beverages in the Fellowship Hall for our anticipated 300 shoppers plus parents and guests. And if everyone has 2 or 3 cookies each, well…doing the math, we need a LOT of Cookies.

So please help us entertain our guests and bake or purchase cookies. Cookies can be brought to the kitchen on December 6th or on Bazaar Day. Oh, and don’t worry about the excess cookies as the Volunteers at this church know how to donate cookies. (Whew, that was a lot about cookies)

Ok, next- Wednesday Morning Workshop. Now that it is November, we will be very busy finishing things up to be ready for the BEST PIGGY BANK BAZAAR EVER!!! Meeting dates are November 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th in rooms 13 and 15 in the Education Center from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
Sunday November 24th
is moving boxes day after the church service. All our gifts and gift wrapping need to be moved from the basement to the Education Center. Many hands makes this go quickly. So, Volunteers, the gift boxes are generally light weight and will be piled in the center of rooms 13 and 15. The gift-wrapping supplies go through room 9 to the back of the Youth Room. Here we need volunteers to sort the wrappings into categories.
Wednesday December 4th - Sorting of the Gifts Day- in room 13 and 15 at 9am. We will need many volunteers to move gifts from the huge pile in rooms 13 and 15 to the gift table destinations. If time permits, we’ll also be able to do the inventory of the many gifts.

Last minute needed donations left over Halloween Candy, Christmas theme plastic table cloths, napkins, and small plates, gift bags, scotch tape, scissors, tissue paper, paper bows, ribbon, pens, pencils, new pet toys, 81/2x11” photo paper, small and tiny pine cones, tinsel garland, jingle bells, mugs, and any craft ideas and supplies are always welcome. Donations can be left in room 15. In closing, Many thanks to our Volunteers, see YOU at the Bazaar!!!
